At Alianza for Opportunity, we are dedicated to addressing the complex challenges faced by Latine/x, Afro-Latine/x, and Indigenous communities across the nation. Our work is driven by a commitment to dismantling oppression and advancing opportunity. We approach our deeply intersectional issues in three main lanes: Economic Justice, Racial Justice, and Health Equity.
ECONOMIC JUSTICE
We aim to reduce disparities and create pathways for economic mobility and stability. Our economic justice efforts include promoting access to lifelong learning opportunities and meaningful employment with fair wages and labor rights. We encourage active civic engagement to ensure that marginalized voices are heard and represented in decision-making processes. We aim to create a foundation for security and prosperity for Latine/x, Afro-Latine/x, and Indigenous families and communities.
RACIAL JUSTICE
We dismantle systemic racism and advance racial equity through comprehensive reforms and community-driven advocacy. This includes addressing the disproportionate impact of the criminal legal system on communities of color by advancing alternatives to incarceration, compassionate release, the elimination of mandatory minimums, and improved conditions for those currently incarcerated. We challenge policies and practices that perpetuate racialized harm, and fight for a humane immigration system rooted in dignity with meaningful pathways to citizenship. We amplify the voices and stories of Latine/x, Afro-Latine/x, and Indigenous people and peoples to celebrate and preserve our rich cultural heritage.
HEALTH EQUITY
We strive to eliminate health disparities and promote holistic well-being, supporting mental, physical, and spiritual healing. We address environmental inequities and underlying social determinants of health to improve overall outcomes for Latine/x, Afro-Latine/x, and Indigenous individuals, while fostering environments that support repair, wholeness, and resilience. We provide culturally appropriate resources for trauma-informed care and advocate for access to comprehensive care.
By addressing these critical issues, Alianza for Opportunity is committed to creating a society where every member of our diverse, dynamic constituency has the opportunity to thrive, free from systemic oppression.
